The German language author Franz Kafka <\/i>wrote very little about music. In fact, he even claimed in a diary entry on the 13 December 1911 that, \u2018The essence of my unmusicalness consists in my inability to enjoy music connectedly, it only now and then has an effect on me, and how seldom it is a musical one\u2026\u2019 <\/span>[1]<\/span><\/sup><\/a> Nevertheless, we know never to read a book by its cover. Later in 1912, whilst in Weimar, he noted, \u2018Carmen<\/i> garden concert. Completely under its spell.\u2019 <\/span>[2]<\/span><\/sup><\/a> So when someone claims to be unmusical, its not a statement of fact. Like all human beings, we are susceptible to music. Indeed Kafka<\/i> was an acute observer of feelings and his rare diary entries of opera performances display in no uncertain terms that he did respond strongly to music, dance and singing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Der deutschsprachige Autor Franz Kafka schrieb sehr wenig \u00fcber Musik. Tats\u00e4chlich behauptete er in einem Tagebucheintrag vom 13. Dezember 1911: \u201eDas Wesen meiner Unmusikalit\u00e4t besteht darin, dass ich Musik nicht zusammenh\u00e4ngend genie\u00dfen kann; sie wirkt nur ab und zu auf mich, und wie selten ist sie musikalisch \u2026\u201c Trotzdem wissen wir, dass man ein Buch nie nach seinem Einband lesen sollte.
